What’s The Point? Most of you guys know that I love author/philosopher/integral badass Ken Wilber. His expression of the integral way of being truly does change people’s lives, usually over many many years of consistent practice and learning. It’s tough to share, partly because it tends to cover all of the bases, partly because it […]

6 Word Review: Easy to Read, Pragmatic, and Deeply Spiritual This book is a rare combination of easily readable, pragmatic, and deeply spiritual. After reading it I find that my perspective around conflict has changed dramatically. Most people see conflict as something to avoid, diffuse, or confront—something to get rid of in the end. Diane […]
How to Become A Saint* Experiment: Exploring Your Own Inner Wisdom and Highest Potential How would your life be different if you saw it through the eyes of Nelson Mandela? If you saw other people’s suffering like Mother Teresa did? If you thought about politics like the Dalai Llama? We revere these people for a […]
Hack Your Mind for Mental Health An Unabashed Endorsement for Integral Thinking We have talked a lot on DailyHap about psychological, physical, even spiritual development. We’ve talked about how all of these relate to happiness. But we haven’t talked too much about mental development and how our framework—the lens through which we see the world—affects […]
Spirituality, Drugs, and Meditation The Power and Limits of Different Ways to Change our State of Being State Changes are Common Think about the last dream you remember. It was probably pretty weird. You existed, yet it was a sort of altered state of being. Or you might have felt a runner’s high after intense […]
The idea that we don’t have enough space and resources on our planet for the growth of our population is not only unfounded, it produces unnecessary unhappiness. Replacing this myth with a more optimistic view is a more realistic view of the future, is more pragmatic, and can lead to a brighter day. Like most […]
Exercise the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual What is an Integral Life Practice? Very simply, it is a way to exercise the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of the self. Also at DailyHap.com Happy election day. Here’s the deal: Our country is screwed if we keep thinking only in terms of “left” and “right,” “liberal” and “conservative,” “republican” and “democrat.” I’m not saying we need to support third parties (although I’m happy to do so, as I think Gary Johnson and Jill Stein are better […]
There are many studies that show attending religious services can lead to longer, happier lives. The funny thing is, our most revered religious figures don’t promise happiness. Jesus said, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword,” and Buddha’s second noble truth essentially says that happiness inevitably leads to sadness because it never sticks around. Even modern spiritual teachers like Adyashanti say, “Enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier.”
What would the world be like if people had a tendency to witness experience, rather than label and judge it? What if politicians made decisions with deep empathy, tolerance, and compassion for beings at all stages of development and all manifestations of life? What if the people writing our textbooks operated within an expansive time frame […]
This is incredibly inspiring, so I think I’ll just post it in its entirety. This came from an email sent by Craig Hamilton, the founder of “Integral Enlightenment.” “As a spiritual teacher, I meet a lot of people on the path. And one of the most common refrains I hear from spiritual seekers these days […]
